Lost Senegal Parrot - Los Angels, CA - Sept. 5, 2009
We lost our 12-year-old Senegal parrot earlier today near La Brea & 3rd in Los Angeles, close to the Miracle Mile area. His wings aren't clipped, his beak isn't filed, and his claws are unfiled.
He has the general Senegal appearance - green, grey head, yellow breast. The photo I have posted is an image from google. He has a blue metal band on one of his feet to mark him as a legal bird.
He goes by the name of Spikey (after his nippy personality) and knows how to say "Hello Spikey," "good morning Spikey," "bad bird," "good bird," "how are you," "good night Spikey" - along with some clicking and squawks.
He is relatively untrained, and does not know any commands. He is known to bite, but it is usually out of fear/apprehension (though he is prone to his moods) and will react better if handled calmly and gently, with no sudden movements.
I'm not sure if this will be of any use, but he does love peanuts.
If you find him, please please please let us know. We're very worried about him. We will offer a reward. Call (323)-243-0836.
