We have heard from a number of people asking for help - identifying or caring for - parrots who have come to them in various unexpected ways. And some who have lost their beloved pets.

These are great stories of caring people, who have put the welfare of birds first. And some very heartbreaking ones. If you can help any of these people who have lost their loved ones, please let ParrotsNow know immediately, and we will get in touch with them for you.

Some are looking for the owners who may have lost the birds, others just looking for guidance. If you have lost your pet bird, or have found one, contact ParrotsNow - and we will post your story and pictures. Hopefully we can help put owners in touch with those who may have rescued their bird. Or, if you've found a bird, we will try to help locate the owners.

Lost Cockatiel - July 2006 - Hawaii

Vi wrote about her lost Cockatiel...

He's six months old..medium size slim...capable of full flight...wings not clipped coz we believe in animal's right...but this is the consequence..

Color is basic cockatiel grey...he's a male..so he has yellow face and orange cheek...the end of his beak is a bit darker than the rest of the beak...his wings has white tabs around the outer edge. His tail is long and inside tail feathers are yellow with black stripe. He ahs brown eyes, very tame, playful, and vocal. Just had a pedicure. All feathers are full, tight and nice...happy and healthy looking bird.

We took him out for a walk at Ala Moana beach park in pet's bag like usual and he came out stand on my shoulder and decided to fly up high far far away. He attempt to fly to highrise condos across the street along the park but the wind was too strong so he was blown back to the tennis court on the beach side...we went look for him but couldn't find any where...we look again today..called for him but no responses.

Lost Pionious - June 5 2006 - United Kingdom

Sue sent this...

I lost my poinious parrot on Monday 5th of June 2006.He flew out of the house after a noise frightened him and the netting at the door was not fastened down properly, we have searched our area and the area he was sighted at for the first 4 hours he got out. He was in a tree at the local vicarige for the first full day then vanished after crows scared him.

We are all devastated and still keep looking for him but now people are saying I'm wasting my time as he wont be around anymore. The children keep praying to Saint Anthony as the vicar said he returns lost things safely and they are also thinking the worst. Is it possible he his still around?

Found African Grey - Houston, Texas - June 8 2006

Kimberly sent this...

We found an African Grey Parrot in our front yard yesterday. We live just north of Houston in Spring, TX. We have him in a box, which is not what he is used to, I'm sure. He has an ID band on and we have finally been able to get the number off of it. We have contacted an avian vet in the area and she has not been able to come up with anything for us. If you or someone you know has lost this guy, email ParrotsNow and we can see if your lost parrot's numbers match this one's.

Our neighbors have cockatiels and gave us some food for it. He/she is eating and drinking and lets us pet him/her. It is very friendly, but hasn’t said anything. I don’t know how to tell how old or what sex it is. It’s light grey with a bright red tail. We will keep it until we find its owner, and if that doesn’t happen, then we may keep it. If not, we will make sure to find a good home for it. I know it is someone’s pet, though, because it is so friendly. My kids would love to keep it, but if it were mine, I would hope that someone would return it to me, so I am trying to do what I can to find the owner. Thanks for your response. Also, since I sent my previous e-mail, I have learned of an avian vet down the road that I will call tomorrow. She may know whose it is. Thanks.
