Lost - Blue-Crowned Conure - Austin, TX - November 18, 2007

Lost Blue-Crowned Conure - Austin, Texas - November 18, 2007

My Blue-Crowned Conure, Django (the D is silent, it's pronounced Jango), was lost on Sunday, November 18th at sunset in the Allendale area of Austin, TX, between Steck and 183, on Shoal Creek Blvd.

I saw him a day after his escape, perched toward the top of a 90' tree. Since then, I haven't seen or definitively heard a word.

He is small-medium, with a green body, blue head and maroon underside of his tail. He has a white eye ring around his eyes. His eyes are copper colored. His upper beak is bone colored, his lower beak black.

Django is an excellent talker and will say his name, Djang-Djang, Pi-Pi (his Sun Conure buddy with whom he shares his home), give me a kiss, it's the kitty, etc.

He is not just a part of my family, he is my best friend, and I feel like a piece of me is missing. I have not been able to eat or sleep since he was lost. I will be forever indebted to anyone who returns him to me.

If you find him, just put your hand out and say "Step-up, Django". He will step right up for you. Any information, please call (512) 769-0251.

Mine flew away too.
by: Adam

My BCC named Polly (I usually just called her green bird) flew away yesterday. I walked outside unknowingly with her on my shoulder and she took off when the dog walked by. I tried to track her down but have have absolutely no luck. Not one sighting and not one audible sound that remotely sounded like her has been heard. She too was my best friend. It's getting very hot out now as we near summer and I'm not to sure she will be able to survive long. Especially with all of the bigger birds out there. Her head is bigger than her body and I'm sure that she will learn the hard way. I've already made it clear to myself that I am at fault for her getting out as I have not been clipping her wings and I walked outside with her. Lost her in Bakersfield Ca.

I am so sorry about your parrot.I too own a blue crown and lived in south east TX for eight years before coming out to Utah in the mountains. There are so many predators that would make short work of a parrot. I hope for both your sakes that your bird has found a good home and survived flying away without a mishap. As for you, go find a new blue crown. Life is short. I have had Chuckles, my blue crown for 18 years. We have traveled extensively by car, camper and truck. She loves me. I love her. Get a new bird. Keep it safe. Life goes on. Say a prayer for your friend.
