Lost Blue-Crowned Conure - Austin, Texas - Nov 18, 2007
My Blue-Crowned Conure, Django, flew out my front door at sunset on Nov. 18th, 2007, in the Allendale area of Austin (Steck/Shoal Creek Blvd.) I found him the next morning but he was in the top of a 90 foot tree and after talking to me for 25 minutes flew off. I heard him calling from a tree near my apt. complex that night but have not heard from him since, although I have been calling for him from sunset to sundown all week.
He is small-medium sized, with a green body, blue head, and the underneath of his tail is reddish. He has white eye rings around his eyes and his eyes are copper with a black pupil. His upper beak is bone colored, his lower beak black. He is 2 years old. He is an excellent talker. He will say his name, Djang-Djang, sweet Django, Pi-Pi (his Sun Conure buddy with whom he shares his home) it's the kitty, I love you, banana (he will sing a banana song I made up as well), step-up, incapable (oddly, one of his favorite words), wanna come give me a kiss, and lots more.
I am beside myself with worry and grief, esp. since a strong cold front (for Texas anyway) blew through last night (Nov. 21) and there are many hawks in my neighborhood.
Django is not a "pet" to me. He is my best friend and a part of my heart. I will be forever indebted to anyone who returns him to me.
Thank you so much.
