March 7, 2005 11:52 - African Greys and Timnehs

We had an email asking about the differences between the African Grey and the Timneh. Can anyone help answer? If you can help, just click on the "comments" link after this post, and post your answers.

This person asked, between the African Grey and the Timneh, which is a better talker? I do know that the African Grey is generally known as a great talker. But, each bird is individual, and so any bird cannot be guaranteed to talk of course.

They also ask if the male or female might be a better talker.

And... "between the african grey and the white fronted, which is more hardy and easier to manage as a pet?"

I don't think it would make much difference, since the Greys are known for their talking ability. But, does anyone have any thoughts to help?

There's a great book I have to recommend, for new bird owners. And it's great for long time owners too. Help to teach your parrot to talk, cure bad behavior, health tips, and a ton more. See more about it here....

Hope this helps, and be sure to add any comments that may help.
