November 11, 2004 19:55 - A Parrots Tip

A Tip to help your Parrots health....

Some of you may already know that the use of non-stick coated cookware around birds is not a good idea.

The non-stick coated pans let off toxic fumes when over heated and is unhealthy for the bird's respiratory system, and may cause the death of your bird. It probably says this in the fine print that comes with the cookware, but many of us don't bother to read that. But. It IS important.

So if you are still using them now is the time to go out and buy uncoated pans, not an easy thing to do, we are still after 2 years trying to get the hang of cooking in them, but is well worth trying for the health of our beloved flock. (Do it for your Parrots.)

After we published this tip in our ParrotsNow newsletter, we heard from someone who lost their parrot because of this. Don't take it for granted. It's published in the info that come with non-stick pans, but how many of us even read that smallprint. Pass this tip on to any parrot owners you may know. And let them know about this page - more tips coming.

November 24, 2004 19:08 - Parrot Treats Tip

One of the fun parrot treats our Amazon enjoys…

Whenever we are cooking pasta, we take a small amount (cooked about half way) out for our Amazon Bubba (our Sun Conures don't seem to enjoy this) and mix it with a frozen vegetable mix (fiesta style seems to be his favorite.)

Be sure to let the pasta cool. You can run it under cold water, and to unthaw the veggies. We just add them to the pasta and run it all under cold water. Let drain well before serving to your Parrot.

Not only should they enjoy the treat, but they also get to join you for dinner.

We have a portable stand with food dish attached to it that we keep on our dining room table so our Parrots can join us for dinner.
(Stands for sale on ParrotsNow.)

Caution: This can be messy and some may be "shared" but they do have fun. And, it’s good for them.

December 11, 2004 14:54 - Lost Parrot in California

We received another email from someone who has lost her Parrot. If you can help, contact us at ParrotsNow. Read Amy's story....

"Hi, my name is Amy and I lost my bird Zackery on 10-11-04 in Stockton CA. I have missed my Zackery so much and I often wonder where he is. I live in Stockton Ca. near Hammer Lane and March Lane. If any one have seen my Zackery Please call me [contact ParrotsNow. We removed phone number so it's not all over the web.]

I know he misses me very much too. He loves to be outside and playing. I just moved from Sacramento CA. I had a very large tree in front of my house in Sacramento and Zackery would spend most of his day outside on the tree. Now that I have moved to Stockton CA, there are no large trees any where in front or back of my house. He has no big trees to sit on and we would go outside everyday to play and he knows where he lives but I think someone has him not knowing how much he is being loved and missed by me. Please help us find each other. I will not give me until we are united together. Please help me find my baby I pray that GOD will unite us together soon. GOD HEAR MY PRAYER.

I also thank you all for giving me a chance to help me find my Zackery. THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS YOU.

AMY"

If anyone has any info that might help Amy find Zackery, please contact us through the form at http://www.parrotsnow.com/contactus.html and we'll let Amy know immediately.

Best wishes,
